The administrative offices for the City of Johnson City have resided in the same building for many years, and as the City continually looks to foster growth and community, specifically through public meetings, they require assembly areas that address this need. Consequently, TWA was requested to imagine a re-design of the current city court and commission chambers. Providing simple security measures, serving dual city functions, increasing the number of available spectator seats, and updating the general aesthetic all became integral challenges in the design. All of which were addressed by adding a rear private entrance, creating a central platform, and moving existing support spaces to one side of the room. The final design provides a functional and appropriate solution for the city's needs.
