In 2019, TWA collaborated with Johnson City Schools and City of Johnson City officials to create a proposal for the replacement of Towne Acres Elementary School, which has become outdated and overcrowded. The proposed new school would serve 650 students across two stories and roughly 100,000 - 125,000 square feet of new facility. Proposed placement on the site was carefully considered to allow the new school to be built while the existing school remained fully operational, which was a paramount concern for invested parties. The orientation and new parking layout would allow the school to optimize parent and bus traffic by separating the two functions with streamlined entrance and exit points. The proposal also adds needed athletic facilities and shows the potential for re-purposing the existing gym into a City-run community center.
