THE WELL - STUDENT CENTER
In response to a growing need for expansion, The Well student ministry found a new home along the West Walnut Corridor providing the ideal setting to engage college aged students and invite pedestrian traffic onto their site. The modern industrial exterior pays homage to historic downtown Johnson City while balancing the needs of collegiate relational ministry through physical transparency of materials and unique outdoor amenities including patio seating, green spaces, and a fire pit. Site access for parking and pedestrian walkways ties in seamlessly with the overall West Walnut Corridor and architectural lighting and canopies lends an approachable facade. Housing their staff offices and a bustling coffee shop throughout the week, the interior of the building plays with texture and minimalism to provide connection and collaboration, practically supporting theri missiong to "Come. Drink. Live." The building programming also includes two multi-purpose meeting rooms with a mobile divider and overhead doors opening to the adjacent green space, expanding their reach and room capacity. The 500 seat auditorium serves as a backdrop for weekly worship gatherings and is also used as a venue for banquets, concerts, and special events. The auditorium features a sizable LED display, customizable theatrical lighting, and is equipped with generous sound control components given its close proximity to the historic Tree Streets Neighborhood.
