Increasing student enrollment in the Lake Ridge Elementary district required Johnson City Schools to take a hard look at capacity and service of their existing facilities. TWA partnered with JCS to meet the demand by adding (8) new classrooms to Lake Ridge Elementary and updating all the existing HVAC equipment throughout the school. Interior renovations also included creating an access-controlled, secure vestibule entrance at the main lobby. The phased construction approach addressed expansion needs, interior improvements, and added outdoor amenities and access. New cantilever canopies were added at entrance drop offs which serves both functional and aesthetic purposes by increasing the school's visibility and approachability from the road frontage. Exterior additions like new parking, surfacing, bridge connections to athletic fields, and ADA accessible structures ensure all students can engage in play. The classroom addition improved upon existing classroom layouts with increased usable storage, utility access, and updated finishes throughout.
